Foster Home Application, as well as the
Adoption Application (both documents are required in order to
foster) and return via e-mail to

Please

everyday, so if you do not see a dog that would be a perfect match for
your family, please check back often or call one of our Rescue Agents.
See Our
Dogs...
Note:
Our volunteers give up many hours of time to do the work necessary to run this
organization and care for all the Weims that come into our program. Our
resources and manpower often times become very stretched. If we do not
contact you within 24 hours, please give us a call.
Adoption
Process: Once you have completed an adoption application, and
we check vet references, we will then do a phone interview to determine if the
dog that you have an interest in fits the situation. If the dog is a good
match, we will arrange for a home visit and bring the dog (or possibly dogs)
that we feel best fits the potential adopter's lifestyle and
situation. We take into
account fencing situations, lifestyle situations, additional pets already living
in the home and children when matching a dog to a potential adopter's
situation. We reserve the right to decline a home that is not right for a Weimaraner. Remember....Weimaraners are a wonderful and loving breed to
own, BUT...WEIMARANERS ARE NOT FOR EVERYONE!
If the home visit is
approved, then we will ask that you complete an Adoption Contract to finalize
the adoption. We require a contract be signed and an adoption fee of
$175 - Adult dogs (7+ years)
$275 - Adult dogs (1-7 years)
$375 - Puppies less than 1
year (foster to adopt ONLY with S/N contract)
If after adopting a dog, the
owner finds that the dog is not a good match or if they cannot keep the dog, the
dog must be returned to the Atlanta Weimaraner Club
Rescue, as stated in the Adoption Contract.
We must
trust ourselves and listen to our doggie friends when deciding which home is
right for them. We must be able to place each dog in loving hands and know
that we have done everything in our power to give the dog the chance it
deserves.

We're
growing leaps and bounds! Come along for the ride and join our club and
assist us in saving helpless, unwanted, homeless Weimaraners....
just like Finley & Fergie pictured above.

Name: Apple Age: Approx. 3 Sex:
F
Adoption pending....
Apple is a beautiful,
neutered, gray girl
with a docked tail that is up-to-date on her shots and is housebroken. Apple's foster mom says that sweet Apple
would do best as an only dog. Apple is calm, does well in a crate, although she doesn't need to
sleep in her crate, and is learning basic commands. Apple is
heartworm positive and is completing heartworm treatment.
Apple is everything you expect in a
Weimaraner—beauty and energy to spare. Weimaraners are gun dogs so
they are typically high energy and need to receive adequate exercise
everyday. Apple will need at least a long walk or jog everyday so that
she remains healthy, happy, and out of trouble. She will need a little
work on her leash walking before walks are a fun experience for
everyone, so her new owners will need to be very consistent and
disciplined with her on her leash manners from the very beginning. An
obedience class would be a wonderful idea so that she can be
socialized around other dogs and people and learn how to be a
well-behaved dog.

Wilson is a 6
1/2 yr old purebred Weim that we took in as a favor to his owner on
what we thought was a temporary basis, but has now become
permanent. We have had Wilson for close to a year and love him
dearly, but have ultimately decided that our home is not the best
home for him, mainly because we do not have a fenced in yard for
Wilson to run around and play in. Since he has been with us, he
spends the majority of his time indoors as he cannot be left outside
on his own. We are an active family with two working spouses and
not a lot of home time!

Wilson truly is a great
dog -- very lovable (loyal, of course), house trained, crate
trained, and very, very patient with our children, but we just truly
feel that he is not being served well by not having enough outdoor
time to run and play catch (one of his favorite activities). If you
are interested in Wilson, please contact Denise Nielson at
Nielson05@yahoo.com
